The Lucknow Zone team proved their supremacy and bagged the ASISC UP and UK Regional Swimming Cup” at the two-day ASISC UP and UK Regional Swimming Meet 2018 which concluded here on Sunday. The Allahabad Zone was the runners up. The regional swimming meet hosted by Boys’ High School and College under the auspicious of Council’s National Sports and Games was held at the “BHS Swimming Pool.” The chief guest for the closing ceremony was national badminton player, Arjuna Awardee Abhinn Shyam Gupta, while the guest of honour was Mr. Sudhir Joshi, Secretary, ASISC, UP and UK Region.
The Best Swimmer trophy in the Boys category was bagged by Harshit Nath (Allahabad) in the Junior group, while in the Senior group, the trophy was shared by Chinmay Srivastava (Lucknow B) and Mazhar Hasan (Allahabad). In the Girls category, the Best Swimmer trophy went to Yavnika Gossain (Lucknow B) in the Junior group and Lakshita Srivastava (Lucknow A) in the Senior group.
The Junior Boys championship trophy went to Allahabad zone, while in the Girls category it went to Lucknow (B) zone. In the Senior Boys and Girls group, championship trophy was bagged by the Lucknow (B) zone.
The gala closing ceremony was witnessed by the Principal, St. Joseph’s College, Rev. Fr. Rolfie D’Souza, BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke, Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke, alumni and prominent swimmers of Allahabad.
In his brief address, the chief guest, Mr. Abhinn Shyam Gupta praised Boys’ High School and College for organizing the event on a grand scale and advised the sportsmen to be focused and disciplined to achieve success. He also expressed admiration for the school for providing the students with a high quality of training in the games and sports.
The guest of honour, Mr. Sudhir Joshi congratulated the prize winners and gave best wishes to the swimmers who were selected to represent the state of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the nationals.
The function came to an end with a vote of thanks by the BHS Principal Mr. D. A. Luke, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
