Alfresco 2022 (Opening Ceremony)

Boys’ High School (BHS) and College is celebrating 160 years of excellence in the field of education this year. To make the year eventful, the school has organized a three-day Inter-Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza “Alfresco 2022”, from October 31st to November 2nd, 2022. The function commenced here on a happy note at the Saint Patrick’s auditorium on Monday morning. Mr. Prem Prakash, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Prayagraj Zone was the Chief Guest.

The motto of Alfresco 2022, `Educate, Enthral, Excel and Evolve’ was  to facilitate personality development, confidence building and inter personal relationships among the students fraternity.

More than 600 enthusiastic boys and girls from eighteen educational institutions participated in the mega fest. The participating schools were Girls’ High School and College, The Bishop’s Co-ed School, Undri, Bishop Johnson School and College, D. P. Public School, Khelgoan Public School, Delhi Public School, Tagore Public School, Ewing Christian Senior Secondary Public School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School, Srinivasa Ramanujan Public School, St. John’s Co-Ed School, YMCA Centenary School and College, Sanskaar International School, St. Anthony’s Convent Girls Inter College, Mary Lucas School and College and the host, Boys’ High School and College and its annexe, Holy Trinity School.

On arrival, the Chief Guest, Mr. Prem Prakash, was accorded a warm welcome by the BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and the Academic Supervisor Mrs. C. B. Luke. The NCC cadets presented guard of honour to the Chief Guest. The inaugural function began with an impressive March Past by the flag bearers of the participating schools.

This was followed by the melodious rendition of the School Song and the School Hymn by the School Choir. Thereafter, the Cultural Captain, Bharat Vyas took the oath. Mr. J. Lawrence invoked the blessings of the Almighty for the success of this mega event. A video presentation on “160 years of Excellence” depicting the glorious history of the school was screened at the Saint Patrick’s auditorium.

The inaugural ceremony of the cultural events commenced with the lighting of the candles by the Chief Guest, Mr. Prem Prakash, BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke. Thereafter, the Chief Guest declared the three-day mega fest, Alfresco-2022 open.

Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Prem Prakash praised the school for rendering quality education  to children and for providing a platform to young students to participate in events which help them to enhance their personality. He further added that participating in cultural and games activities help to promote creativity which leads to innovation and discovery.

Earlier, the opening ceremony of games was held at Saint Peter’s Arena. The BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke was accorded a warm welcome by the College Section In-charge, Mr. L.A.M. French. The pledge was taken by Vice Cultural Captain, Aaryaman Chaturvedi. Thereafter, the BHS Principal unfurled the School Flag and released balloons and declared the games extravaganza open.

 The on-stage cultural events for the first day on October 31st, 2002 were Colloquy, HAM (Half a Minute), Sur Sangram and Rock On while the off-stage events were Visage Maquillage, Splash and Creative Muse. The games events were Basketball Match (Girls), Football Match and T-10 Cricket.
