Alfresco 2022 (Closing Ceremony)

Boys’ High School (BHS) and College clinched the prestigious ‘Alfresco 2022 Championship Trophy’ by outclassing seventeen prominent schools at the three-day Inter Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza which concluded here late on Wednesday evening. Mr. Shailesh Pandey, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Prayagraj was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and prize distribution function. Girls’ High School (GHS) and College gave a tough competition and bagged the runners up trophy.

On arrival of the Chief Guest, the Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke accorded a warm welcome to Mr. Pandey. This year, twenty-one competitive events were held in the three-day mega fest. Of them, seven each were in junior, senior and open categories.

Prominent schools which took part in the mega fest were Girls’ High School and College, The Bishop’s Co-ed School, Undri, Bishop Johnson School and College, D. P. Public School, Khelgoan Public School, Delhi Public School, Tagore Public School, Ewing Christian Senior Secondary Public School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School, Srinivasa Ramanujan Public School, St. John’s Co-Ed School, YMCA Centenary School and College, Sanskaar International School, St. Anthony’s Convent Girls Inter College, Mary Lucas School and College and the host, Boys’ High School and College and its annexe, Holy Trinity School.

On the third and final day, the opening ceremony of the cultural events commenced with much ardour and ebullience at St. Patrick’s Auditorium here on Wednesday morning. The day began with the brain-storming session on Mega Quiz. The quiz consisted of five rounds—Warm up round, Entertainment round, Kaun Banega Crorepati, Its Jumbled up and Buzzer round. Questions based on humanities, science, environment, technology, sports, entertainment, current affairs, currencies and who is who were put forward to the participants.

This was followed by another entertaining event, The Director’s Cut. In this event, the participants created a piece of fiction, fable or animation and were judged on cinematography, sound, story line, special effects, creativity and editing.

 The most-awaited event of the day was En Vogue, on the theme “A Kaleidoscope of Ethnic Indian Attire”. Each team displayed the Indian attire of various states with grace and poise. The participants were judged on their costumes, theme, walking stance and attitude. The sizzling performances by the participants was applauded by the audience.

The closing ceremony and the prize distribution function commenced with a prayer by Mr. J. Lawrence and a group song by the School Choir.

It was a proud moment for the Boys’ High School and College, when the Chief Guest handed over the prestigious Alfresco 2022 Championship Trophy. Thereafter, the prizes were awarded to the winners and runners in games—Basketball, Cricket and Football. The Principal Mr. Luke congratulated the winners and motivated others who could not win the prizes. In the end, the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke proposed a vote of thanks. The function was conducted by Mr. L.A.M. French, In-charge, College Section.
