Annual Prize Day 2018-19

To recognize and appreciate the success of its students in the field of academics, sports and games, the Annual Prize Day function of Boys’ High School (BHS) and College for the academic session 2018-19 was held on Tuesday. Mr. Francis Moore, former MLA and Principal of Benhur High School and College, was the Chief Guest.

In all, 155 achievers from class 6 to class 12 who excelled in academics, sports and games were honoured with medals, certificates and books. It was a proud moment for the boys of Saint George’s House who were awarded the prestigious Cock House Shield and the Study Shield. Besides the above, Saint George’s House bagged the Athletics, Basketball and Cricket Shields. The runners-up Study Shield, Badminton and Swimming Shields went to Saint Andrew’s House. The Football Shield was bagged by Saint Patrick’s House.

Earlier, on his arrival, the chief guest was warmly received by the Principal Mr. D. A. Luke and the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke. The function commenced with the opening prayer by Mr. J. Lawrence and Bible reading by Mr. Michael Johnstone.

The prizes and trophies presented by the chief guest are as follows: Principal’s Medal to ISC topper: Mohd. Muzzamil; ICSE topper: Srijan Shukla; Best Athlete: Sanchit Upadhyay; Tresham Medal for Best Boy: Laksh Kawatra; A.K. Das Medal for Mathematics: Mohd. Muzzamil; Maj. Gen. Rana Kapoor’s Trophy for Best Sportsman: Raghu Agarwal; Lt. Shrijeet Das Memorial Cup for Best All Rounder in College Section: Mazhar Hasan; Maj. Gen. AJB Jaini’s Trophy for Best All Rounder in the Middle School: Snehit Dubey; Mrs. Margaret Anthony Running Shield for Best Boy in Junior School: Shreyansh Vinay; NCC Army Wing (Senior Division)–Best Cadet: CPL Shikhar Srivastava, Best Social Service: SUO Shivm Srivastava; Best Turnout: CPL Prajjwal Shekhar; Best Marksmanship: CPL Shashwat Kr Srivastava; NCC Army Wing (Junior Division)–Best Cadet: CPL Dev Prakash, Best Social Service: CPL Yashasvi Singh; Best Marksmanship: JUO Yash Singh; Best Turnout: CHM Utkarsh Singh; NCC Naval Wing–Best Cadet: Bharat Vyas, Best Social Service: Mahitra Dev Shukla; Best Marksmanship: Bharat Aditya Ramana; Best Turnout: Anshumaan.

In a motivational address, the Chief Guest, Mr. Francis Moore asked the students to be good human beings. He said that the school provides a platform to the students to grow and asked the students to work hard, be it in academics, sports and games and grow in body, mind and heart to contribute for the progress and development of the country. He asked the students to nurture their hidden talents to their full potential and advised them not to lose sight of their goal but continue to march ahead until they achieve success in their mission.

Speaking on the occasion, the BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke congratulated the achievers and motivated others to work hard to achieve success.

The function came to an end with the singing of the School Song followed by the National Anthem. The function was conducted by Mr. L.A.M. French, In-charge, College Section.
