Boys’ High School (BHS) and College is celebrating 162nd years of excellence in the field of education this year. To make the year eventful, the school has organized a three-day Inter-Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza “Alfresco 2023”, from November 6tht to 8th, 2023. The function commenced here on a happy note at the Saint Patrick’s auditorium on Monday morning. Rt. Rev. Morris Edgar Dan, Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow, Church of North India (CNI) was the Chief Guest.
The motto of Alfresco 2023, `Educate, Enthral, Excel and Evolve’ is to facilitate personality development, confidence building and inter personal relationships among the student fraternity. More than 500 enthusiastic boys and girls from more than a dozen prominent educational institutions are participating in the mega fest.
The participating schools are Girls’ High School and College, Bishop Johnson School and College, Mary Lucas School and College, D. P. Public School, Khelgoan Public School, Tagore Public School, Ewing Christian Senior Secondary Public School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School, Srinivasa Ramanujan Public School, St. John’s Co-Ed School, YMCA Centenary School and College, Bal Bharti School and the host, Boys’ High School and College.
On arrival, the Chief Guest, Bishop, Rt. Rev. Morris Edgar Dan, was accorded a warm welcome by the BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and the Academic Supervisor Mrs. C. B. Luke. The NCC cadets presented guard of honour to the Chief Guest. The inaugural function began with an impressive March Past by the flag bearers of the participating schools.
This was followed by the melodious rendition of the School Song by the School Choir. Thereafter, the College Captain, Ansh Mishra took the oath. Bishop Rt. Rev Dan invoked the blessings of the Almighty for the success of this mega event. A video presentation on “160 years of Excellence” depicting the glorious history of the school was screened at the Saint Patrick’s auditorium.
Speaking on this occasion, the Chief Guest, Rt. Rev. Morris Edgar Dan praised the Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke for the all round development of the school and for rendering quality education to children. He further added that he had always received respect and love from the Principal and the institution and congratulated the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke and the teachers for the hard work in organizing this mega event. Amidst cheers, he declared the three-day Inter Institutional Games and Cultural Fest, Alfresco 2023 open.
The inaugural ceremony of the cultural events commenced with the lighting of the candles followed by draw of lots. The on-stage cultural events for the first day, that is, on November 6th, 2023 were Colloquy, Sing Along and Rock On while offstage events were Charcoal on Canvas, Splash, Creative Muse and BGMI. The games events were Football Match and T-10 Cricket.
