ARMY WING

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) instills in the youth a sense of `Duty’, `Commitment’, `Dedication’, `Discipline’ and `Moral Values’. It aims at the development of leadership, comradeship, spirit of sportsmanship and ideals of service. The idea behind it is to create a force of disciplined and trained manpower who can be useful to the country and provide assistance to the administration in times of national emergency.

The motto of NCC is `Unity’ and `Discipline’ and we at Boys’ High School and College lay great stress on it and ensure that our students follow it in letter and spirit. The Army Wing of NCC of our School is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain core values that we endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC.

It is indeed a great honour for me to put on record the NCC activities carried out at the Boys’ High School and College in the academic session 2022-23. The session started with the enrolment of NCC cadets for the Junior Wing (Army)  in the month of July 2022. After a tough screening test which includes written and physical  and interview, 25 cadets were selected. The screening test and interview was carried out by the Battalion Headquarters, Prayagraj.

After the enrolment of cadets, regular training, parade and other activities were carried out by the PI instructors of the 15 UP Bn Army Unit and the Commanding Officer Col P.S. Mohapatra. Apart from the parade session,  various activities like the basic training, social service activities, military training in drill, map reading, weapons training, adventure training, battle craft and field craft were imparted by the regular Army Instructors in the presence of the NCC Officer, Major . V. K. Yadav.

The training imparted to our uniformed disciplined force of cadets helped in building up their career and also to maintain discipline in the school. Our cadets took part at the International Yoga Day held on June 21, 2022 and Traffic Rally Week organized at Civil Lines in November 2022.

The cadets of the NCC Senior Division attended the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-67 held at Nawabganj in Prayagraj from September 9 to 27, 2022. Twenty-five cadets attended the camp. Fifteen cadets of the NCC Army (Junior Wing) also attended the CATC-75 held at Jamunipur in Prayagraj from November 14 to 21, 2022. The camp was held under the supervision of Camp Commandant Col. P. S. Mohapatra.

The cadets of our school took part in all the Inter School activities of the camp and won many prizes and medals. In the debate event, our cadets Shreyansh Vinay of Junior Division and CHM Shivansh Dwivedi won the gold medal. Yashdeep Sen, Uttam, Ayush bagged the first prize in the group dance competition. The tug-o-war was won by our senior division cadets consisting of Sujoy Ghosh, Mohd Usman, Ayush Srivastava, Vinayak Pratap Singh, Anirudh Dubey and Vaibhav Tripathi,

Cadet Sgt. Vinayak Pratap Singh of the Senior Division was adjudged as the `Best Cadet’ during the training session for the year 2022-23. in the Junior Division, the honour of `Best Cadet was bagged by Cpl Shreyansh Vinay. The Camp Commandant, Col P. S. Mohapatra made a special mention about our cadets and praised them for their outstanding performance and their sincerity in carrying out the assigned tasks given to them during the camp.

At the end of the training, the NCC `A’ Certificate and NCC `B’ Certificate examinations were held in the month of February, 2023 in which 25 cadets of the senior division (SD) and 15 cadets of the junior division (JD) appeared and all of them passed with good gradings, that is, the resultswas cent per cent.

In the end, I would like my sincere gratitude to our Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke for his guidance and support in making our NCC programmes robust and strong. Lastly, I would like to extend my warm wishes to all the parents, teachers and in-charges for their co-operation throughout the academic session.
