Education not only breeds confidence but also harnesses hope and is the panacea for everlasting peace. Today, the world faces a `crisis of survival’ more than ever before and it is my firm belief that education is the only weapon through which humanity can overcome this crisis.

We need to change the present system to adapt to our changing times. Education needs to be broadened in its horizon and not be limited to the classroom. We should make a concerted effort to make education more humane and accommodating.

Since, I have taken over the reigns of this institution, it has been my constant effort to put in place a system which not only enhances that intelligent quotient but also the emotional quotient. Let us, as teachers first make a whole-hearted effort in keeping the purity of a child’s conscience intact. Let’s not only dispense literacy but also knowledge and wisdom. If humanity has to survive, the education system must equip a child with knowledge, human values and a secular temperament.

A good curriculum and a streamlined syllabus should be supplemented by a good infrastructure for the holistic development of a child. Today, Boys’ High School and College and its annexe, Holy Trinity School are rendering yeomen service in the field of education and catering to the needs of a large segment of society. However, the demand continues to take an upward trend each year and it is becoming extremely difficult to cope up with the rising demands.

This year too, that is, in the academic session 2015-16, the results of the ICSE (X) and ISC (XII) were outstanding. The remarkable aspect of the result was that 19 students shared the top ten positions with more than 94 per cent marks in the merit list and 202 students out of 387 have scored more than 80 per cent marks. In Computer Applications, 24 students scored cent per cent marks while 26 students have missed the target by one mark and got 99 marks. In other subjects like Science, Maths, Hindi, History and Civics, the results were outstanding.

In the ISC (XII) too, the results were astounding. Ninety-five students have scored 90 per cent marks and above in English. The Science results were excellent as all the students has passed. In Maths, 28 students, out of 183 have bagged more than 90 per cent marks. In Physics, 24 students and in Chemistry 20 students have achieved this feat in Chemistry. In the Commerce stream, nearly a dozen students out of 99 have scored more than 90 per cent marks. In Computer Science, out of 61 students, 45 of them have scored more than 90 per cent marks.

Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are indispensible for the holistic development of a child’s personality. It is our sincere and steadfast approach to groom our students in every sphere of their development. Debates, elocution, quiz, art and craft, singing, painting, dramatics are regular feature academic calendar. In the academic session 2014-15, more than a dozen educational institutions took part in the mega cultural fest, Alfresco. Yet again the students of BHS have stamped their authority by clinching the coveted trophy. Our boys proved their mettle and class in various district and state level competitions held in various parts of the country—Kanpur, Lucknow, Nasik, Mumbai, Deolali etc. The same feat was repeated by our students in the academic session 2015-16 under the leadership of Parth Goswami.

Sports and games not only reveals true character but also builds it. At BHS, we are extremely passionate when it comes to games and sports. Like yesteryears, this year too, we have been able to further glorious legacy of sportsmanship in various events. Our athletes, swimmers, footballers, cricketers and basketball players have been selected to represent the district, state and national competitions. We have competent coaches for various games to nurture the hidden talents of the students. During the summer and winter vacations, we organize special camps in various games and sports. Camps are also organized to develop linguistic and speaking skills, art, craft, yoga, singing, dancing, drama, creative writing, sculpting, etc.

In the year gone-by, we have made significant strides to enhance the existing infrastructure to meet the demands of quality education. We have built a new block with spacious classrooms, laboratories, computer labs and the state-of-the-art library. To meet the growing demand of Computer Science, we have also installed 50 new computers in the lab. I assure you that in future, we will continue to expand to fulfill the requirements for the holistic development of a child.

True freedom is impossible without a mind made free by discipline. Self control is the prime element to achieve success. It is my firm belief that discipline cannot be enforced, but inculcated. To do the right thing when nobody is checking is the essence of discipline. At Boys’ High School and College, we are trying our level best to make students dignified and disciplined. I would also like to call upon the parents not to encourage absenteeism. Your co-operation coupled with our efforts will surely get the desired results.

A great philosopher and thinker, C. S. Lewis once highlighted that the task of modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate the deserts. The role of the teachers has become most crucial in contemporary times as they are the cornerstone in protecting the fabric of a civilized society. Today, teachers have to be proactive in their endeavours so that the child is evolved into a productive citizen. Teacher has to be a guide, a counselor and above all a role model for the child. I have always stood by my teachers and I assure the same support for them in future.

In the end, I would like to thank all my in-charges for implementing policies and decisions in letter and spirit. A very warm gratitude to the management for their support and encouragement. A special word of gratitude for our Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke for all her support without which such levels of progress would not have been possible. Lastly, my prayers to the Almighty for His blessings on the Boys’ High School and College and its fraternity to make us secure, prosperous and humble.

God bless us all.
