Alfresco-2019, the three-day Inter Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza, organized by Boys’ High School (BHS) and College commenced amidst great enthusiasm on a happy note here on Tuesday. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony was Mr. Tariq Khan, Founder Director of Benhur High School and College. Nearly 800 participants from ten local and outstation teams from prestigious educational institutions are participating in the competition.
With the motto ‘Enthral, ‘Excel’, ‘Educate’ and ‘Evolve’, Alfresco aimed to facilitate personality development, confidence building and inter personal relationships among the students fraternity. The glittering ceremony began with a prayer by Mr. J. Lawrence followed by oath by BHS Cultural Captain, Abhinandan Verma and lighting of candles by Chief Guest, Mr. Tariq Khan, BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke and Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke.
At the outset, the BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke extended a very warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr. Tariq Khan, Principals of participating educational institutions and the participants to this mega fest and wished them best of luck. The College Captain Sarvagya Chitranshi threw light on the history of Alfresco. An audio-visual presentation was put forth to recall fond memories of last year’s events.
Enthusiastic boys and girls from educational institutions namely, Bishop’s Co-Ed School (BS), Pune, Girls’ High School (GHS) and College, St. Joseph’s College (SJC), St. Mary’s Convent Inter College (SMC), Mary Lucas School (MLS) and College, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School (EMS), St. Anthony’s Convent (SAC), Tagore Public School (TPS), Dwarika Prasad Public School (DPPS) and the host, Boys’ High School (BHS) and College took part in the competition.
In his brief edifying address, the Chief Guest, Mr. Tariq Khan, an alumnus of the school thanked the BHS Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke for the meticulous work which is amply exemplified the moment one enter the portals of BHS. He impressed upon the fact that Alfresco has evolved into its present stature and magnificence in the past nine years under the stewardship of Principal, Mr. D A Luke and Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke.
The first on-stage event was Interlocution followed by Sur Sangam, Mime. Razzmatazz, Sing Along and Rock on. Each event was a delight as the participants from various institutions locked horns to bring laurel for their Alma Mater. The off stage events included Creative Muse, Face Painting and PUBG. The function was conducted by Mr. L.A.M. French, In-charge, College Section.
